Growing up in Connecticut, it’s hard not to love spending time on the water. Guilford Mooring is located right on the Long Island Sound in Guilford, Connecticut and has a menu filled with classic Connecticut seafood favorites. When they invited us to visit, I couldn’t have been more excited.
Even though it was really hot out, we couldn’t turn down the opportunity to enjoy some time outside. We grabbed a table on the patio and ordered some drinks. Pete got a beer and I tried the appropriately named Lazy Sunday, a peach bourbon cocktail.
We started with Shrimp Cocktail, and it was delicious. The shrimp were huge! Almost every table around us was ordering the Fried Artichokes, so we put an order of those in too. I love artichokes (and anything fried), and I was completely sold on the Parmesan Truffle and Lemon Aioli.

The menu was larger than most waterfront restaurants, so we had a hard time narrowing it down. Pete can never turn down a Lobster Roll, so he went with that and some curly fries. I went with the Clam Strips and we both really enjoyed them.

We grabbed another round of drinks and this time I went with the Almafi Coast, a limoncello prosecco cocktail. It was delicious and so refreshing!

Before we were ready to call it a day, we decided to split Cappuccino Gelato for dessert. It was the perfect way to cool down and end our day date.

We definitely enjoyed our time on the patio, but Guilford Mooring has a ton of great spaces. They have a bar outside, a full bar inside (with lots of TVs), and a huge dining area with an incredible fireplace. It’s the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon or evening on the water and would make a great location for any special events.
